Jim has left a massive hole in the wider team's fabric and our daily routines, both work-related and personal. He's always been there since I joined. It will take me ages to get used to him not being around, although I imagine him forever springing to mind in so many contexts on a daily basis. His jolly and kind nature, sense of humour and laughter, eagerness to offer a hand will be sorely missed. He helped to get me sorted in my new team, home, and garden. He introduced me to the history of Sheffield's miners and Sheffield itself, music of his youth, and a lot more that I, having grown up abroad, was naturally unfamiliar with. I will miss our debates about the history, politics, meanings of freedoms, and differences in cultures rooted in the backgrounds we were born into.
